For Kentucky Lake, there are two construction contracts.
The advance Contract was awarded in early 2013 and has now been completed. It was for the placement of fill material to create the west and east causeways extending the land out from shoreline on the new bridge alignment. The work also included construction of a new bridge over an existing lagoon located on the west side of Kentucky Lake adjacent to the Kenlake State Resort Park campground.
The second contract is for the construction of the bridge across the lake. It includes the 550-foot main span arch bridge over the Tennessee River navigation channel, the bridge approach spans, all final roadway paving and the construction of the multiuse path to enhance the Park's trail system. This contract was awarded in February 2014. Final completion is anticipated in 2016.
For Lake Barkley, there is one construction contract.
The contract for construction of Lake Barkley Bridge was awarded in February 2015. It includes the completion of the causeway at the west side of the lake, construction of the bridge across the lake, including both the 550-foot main span arch bridge over the Cumberland River navigation channel, the bridge approach spans, all final roadway construction and paving, a lake access area on the east shore and the multiuse path within the project limits. Construction activities have begun and are scheduled to be completed in 2018.
